Lake Chapala is the largest lake in Mexico stretching to 50 miles long
and 13 miles across in parts. It is because of this lake that we, here in Lakeside, are
blessed with one of the best climates in the world. This makes it a popular destination for both Mexican
Nationals and foreigners year round.
Ajijic’s location close to an International
Airport (GDL) and it's easy access to virtually any destination around the world
is what is drawing more and more
gay people to live and retire here.
The energy and excitement of Guadalajara, a world class
city with a large and vibrant gay population, coupled with the charm of living in
Ajijic, an appealing, gay friendly Mexican village with adobe walls and
terracotta roof tiles, makes Ajijic, Mexico an ideal location to retire for
many gay people.
To get to Ajijic from the Guadalajara International
Airport you can either rent a car from the airport or you can take a taxi. The cost for the 25 minute drive from the airport is about 250 pesos (or
about $25 USD). Tipping
is the same as in the US or Canada about 10-15%.
